English Translation
Do not pass over a good deed
just because it seems insignificant
Do not let the desire to possess and accumulate material things
prevent us from giving
Original Mandarin Version
莫轻小善而不为
莫贪积财物而不拾
Deimos Analyzes
I shall discuss how this “Silent Thought” can be applied in the Cyberspace, aye? Let’s take a look at the following imaginative scenario shall we?
In the official EntreCard Forums:
Pinrut, an EntreNewbie posted a rather newbish question in the forum.
Mas, an EntreExpert who saw Pinrut’s question, answered it promptly.
Pinrut is impressed by Mas’s helpfulness and eventually becomes a Powerful EntreCarder.
Not exactly a good example perhaps, but I believe it explained the first phrase well?
The second phrase can easily refer to any examples of beggars asking for alms, where generous folks would donate some moolah while stingy ones would ignore the beggars.
However, as there are a plethora of scams nowadays, it is better to donate to reputable charity organizations. Not a good deed to help bad guys, I reckon.
Deimos’s Thoughts
Nowadays, I get the feeling the physical realm that we exist in, is getting kinda darker and darker. No, the sun is not dying! I mean like, the dark ages and stuff.
Just looking locally at Malaysia alone, the crime rate is ever increasing, many cases are never resolved, etc etc. As if the end of days is approaching, aye?
Still, this does not stop one from doing good deeds, right? Share some love yo! As the Black Eye Peas would rap it – Where is the Love?
Deimos Asks
So do you perform good deeds when the opportunity arises?
Any kind of nicie nice nice good deeds.

It does seem like things are getting darker. I think the interpersonal space between people is getting larger and more people simply “can’t be bothered to care” anymore. It’s a big problem.
I try to do good deeds and nice things. I’m not the best at it myself. But i really hope to work toward making more positive changes.

Is it that bad in the United States? 💡
I always thought that Ang Mohs are a more friendly bunch? 🙂
Like Michael Jackson would sing, start with the man in the mirror. 😀
Let’s attempt to make the world a better place by doing a little part. 😛

If everyone lived by this philosophy, what an idyllic world we’d live in. And what a beautiful spirit you are, Deimos, live long and prosper;-D

Good thread, I actually get a kick out of helping others, no matter how small…sometimes a few lines or a couple of well meant words can change the world you live in!

Let me step onto a soapbox real quick. Cellphones, cars, TV, modern living, etc. takes interpersonal relationships away which makes people less caring and less willing to help others. But, and it’s a big but(like J. Lo), blogging creates an atmosphere where people are opening up in journal-like fashion to people they don’t know and others are reaching out to them, personalizing things again. It may be a first step towards personalizing thy neighbor even if you’ve never seen thy neighbor in person.

I like this post! And the comments. If everyone tried to be just a little bit nicer it would make a big difference for everyone!

Idyllic world indeed. 🙂
However, not everyone practices such philosophy. ➡
That does not stop me from practicing it though. ❗

@Scott:
Heck, I get a similar kick too! 😀

@StanHayes:
The way I see this blogging thingie is kinda like this: 😎
My domain is like an extension of myself in the Physical Realm 😈
Make sure how I behave in Cyberspace is acceptable in the Physical Realm 💡
Again, my policy is networking with others sincerely.

@Katheleen:
Let’s start with the man / woman in the mirror. 😉

Good post. I understand what you meant by it feels like we’re going back into the dark ages. It’s more apparent ever since I came back home. So now I’m trying to do it bit by bit, even if it means giving way to that ugly piece of purple Satria on the road 😉
