After reading Wayne Liew’s article about linking, I have decided to install this “NoFollow Free” WordPress plugin as well.
To summarize a bit what Wayne Liew originally wrote:
– Most folks believe they get free linkie if comment on own domain WordPress Blogs
– These blogs requires commenter to enter site url
– By default, WordPress closes link with “nofollow” tag
– Prevents bots from visiting the linkie
– Thus linkie not accounted for
So, any comments?

Still not really clear about this plugin
Anyway if you want to open the nofollow tag you need to erase off the rel=’nofollow’

@MerDuriaN:
Actually, with the installation of this “NoFollow Free” plugin, the “nofollow” tag in your name-linkie is removed.
To check, just right click, select View Page Source then search for the following line of text: a href=’http://merdurian.com’ rel=’external’>MerDuriaN
The “>MerDuriaN” above is referring to your name in your comment, while the a href is the actual URL to your bloggie.
Notice that the rel=’external’ is without the “nofollow” tag? This “NoFollow Free” plugin removed it, aye.
Cheers! 😀

I think this isn’t a good idea. As google are the ones that started the whole Nofollow thing, they probably won’t be happy with everyone trying to un-nofollow the comments. That is why it is dangerous, as if you rely on PR, then better follow google rules or something like that..

Thanks for the mention.
Well, there are pros and cons of this plugin. You might be having more comments but as kljs puts it, your blog might be open for Google PR risk.
I don’t think Google will take any action although in their guidelines, they say that links in a page are best kept to below 100, I don’t think this will cause much bad things.
All you need to do if you don’t get any PR is to nudge Google to review your site. 😛

Arrr. I have yet to know what PR can do for me. I think that this Google PR thingie is kinda overrated? Sorry I am still new to these PR thingies. 😕
@Wayne Liew:
Too many links in one page is bad? How to nudge Google to review mua site? Pay em moolah?
Cheers!
P/S: Replies seems like gibberish now. Its 12am and way past my bed time. Zzzzzzz….

well, I also think people are overrating PR a little, but in terms of adsense earnings, it’s very obvious……. I know, since I own a PR4 blog before and compare to my new PR2 blog….. the differences are there…..

Like that arrrr… 💡
Hmmmmmm Okay better not mess with Google then… 👿
(quietly goes and de-active the NoFollow Free plugin) 😈
I guess the Top Commentator widget plugin thingie is encouraging enough for folks to participate actively in comments ar? 😉
Since the nofollow tags are not applied there aye? 🙂
Cheers! 😀

Well, better don’t rely too much on PR……. concentrate on getting people to visit your blog not because of the PR but on merit would be a better way….

In my opinion the whole nofollow thing was a stupid idea… You link or not. That’s how things should work. I don’t link to stupid and useless websites from my websites. And if someone wants to buy a link? Then such a person can directly advertise on my websites via AdSense (targeted ads, you know what I mean). The rel=”nofollow” attribute has brought new ways of links selling where sellers contact buyers directly. All in all, the ones who profit from this are webmasters as third parties (such as TLA) are losing customers (but still they work for many people).
