A.I. Mofo is lying, this level is very easy, just like the ones before this. ________________________________________________________________________________
This is the field which removes everything - Cubes, Opened Portals etc. ________________________________________________________________________________
Now let’s get up the platform, open up a Blue Portal, grab the Cube and get up there. ________________________________________________________________________________
While up there, shoot a new Blue Portal across the open space as shown above. ________________________________________________________________________________
Take Cube, enter Orange Portal exiting out of Blue Portal, drop Cube on the Big Fat Juicy Red Button, proceed to level 10. ________________________________________________________________________________

I have no idea if this was a bug or what, but when I had my wife play this level last weekend, she didn’t make use of the hole in the upper wall at all. She just strolled through the field, made a portal on the side, and used it to get back to the previous room to get the cube. I know that crossing the field should close any open portals but it wasn’t the case here. Try it yourself and see.

Actually after thinking about it I understand it now. The thing is that the orange portal in the first room is pre-placed and not under your control, so it won’t be closed on crossing the field. In fact, now I remember that the advanced version of this room is exactly the same, except that the hole at the upper portion of the wall has been removed, so you need to do it the other way.
