Poker Tournaments Poker Tournaments – Overview
If you have been browsing the internet long enough, by now you should know that there are plenty of online poker sites and PokerStars is one of them. What you might not know is that these poker sites offer poker tournaments too. Both online and live poker tournaments.

Poker Tournaments – Overview
The word “tournament” means a competition where contestant plays a series of games to determine the winner so “poker tournaments” can be translated as poker players playing against one another until someone wins all the betting chips.

The number of players in a poker tournament can be from two players on a single table or even  thousands of poker players playing on hundreds of tables or even much more! The last poker player remaining who won all the betting chips is the winner and the other poker players’ rankings are based on when they got eliminated.

Most poker tournaments use the knockout playing format which is also called the “freezeout” format. As more poker players loses all their betting chips and leaves the table, tables with lesser poker players are joined together and this continues until there is only one “final table” left in which the last poker player with all the betting chips is the final winner.

Some poker tournaments allow poker players a second chance if they have lost all their betting chips by buying back into the poker tournament. However, if they lost all their betting chips again then they are eliminated for good. Poker players who are low on betting chips can also top up their betting chips too.

This kind of tournament are called “rebuy tournaments” and might probably be more appealing for poker players who fancy a second chance.

Deimos’s Thoughts
Deimos does not really like to lose a lot of monies in gambling so the only poker tournaments he will participate in are recreational poker tournaments. Like those poker tournaments in various video games where no real monies is won or lost.

Have you participated in a poker tournament before? How was it like?
