Overview
Heidi, a fellow EntreCarder who runs ShopDogDiaries.Com lost her husband – Joe to a sudden heart attack recently. Interested in donating EntreCredits to her? The Shocking News
I only got to know about the news after GeekMom posted about it at the Official EntreCard Forums – Send your condolences to Shop Dog Diaries please – in which GeekMom mentioned the post where she got to know about this shocking news from Heidi’s announcement post – Taking Time Off – as a result of that, many EntreCarders jacked in there and gave their condolences.

A Moment of Silence
Fellow EntreCarder – Michael White @ Saphyrm.Com posted up a special MWF entry – A Moment of Silence – dedicated to Heidi. No other EntreCarder responded to that post except me and Heidi though.

About Joe
Heidi shared with us about what happened and Joe’s condition in – Obesity Kills – and it reminded me to always be on guard regarding my eating habits and my own body weight, thought at the moment I am considered to be quite underweight.

Why Donate? Learn something new today – Ancient Chinese Tradition
I would like to share with you all some ancient traditional Chinese Traditions that we Chinese still practices today when someone passes away.

For us Chinese, when someone passes away, the family of that someone holds an event which is called “Pai Shi” (白事) which involves paying last respects, memorial, burial services etc. The family of the deceased collects “Pai Jin” (白金) in Mandarin or “Pak Kum” in Cantonese or “White Gold” when loosely translated into English.

This “White Gold” is mainly used to offset the fees associated with the burial service. i.e. tombstone, monks, etc. However, some wealthy families tend to donate off these “Pai Jin” (白金) to charity institutions.

Wait!!! What does Heidi has to say about this?
Regarding this, I have asked for her permission first and so yeah, she is okay with this. I understand that she is selling EntreCredits and hence that any EntreCredits collected and donated to her would ultimately end up sold by Heidi.

So, if I donated, what’s in it for me?
Why, you would get a big thanks from Heidi, myself! That’s it! Nothing else! Nada!

Just joking! Everyone who donated would get a back-link from me. In the event that too many EntreCarders donated, the back links would be spread out across a few posts to prevent Big-G (Google) from branding my site as a link farm.

Deimos’s Thoughts
I think this is a very terrible and very sad thing to happen to anyone.
I still remember the time when my Grandma passed away suddenly back in September 2004. It happened suddenly, it was too fast and everyone was shocked.

My Mum and Dad were overseas somewhere in Europe when it happened. My Dad talked to my Grandma (my Dad’s mum) over the phone before my Dad left Malaysia for a pre-planned group tour with his University Alumni Association’s members. Dad said Grandma still sounded okay before he left, that is why he left the country after knowing that Grandma sounded okay on the phone.

Thinking about this brings back vivid scenes of the past about how my Dad crawled into the room (another Ancient Chinese Tradition, offsprings of the deceased have to crawl in to pay respect first) where Grandma was placed in a coffin and sobbed uncontrollably.

Come to think of it, there are two doggies in my house hold who are of quite old age – Mickey Handsome Boy and Baby Girl – both of them are born in 1996 and this year would make them coming to an age of Twelve (12). Mickey Handsome Boy is still doing okay but Baby Girl is like 100% blind due to Cataract. I believe I will cry and shed much tears too if they pass away one day, but this is kinda expected since them doggies are of old age.
