@frgrg: To use the scanner you choose it by clicking the icon once you have it, then simply click and drag it across the barcodes in the game window. You can see a red laser dot under it when you click and hold the mouse button.

@Tahlee: To get the scanner (it comes in through the mail slot on the door) go to the computer in front of the window. Click on the actual screen of the in-game computer, on the colored dots in the sequence Deimos displayed above. There is also a “cheat-sheet” stuck to the monitor. It reads RGBCMY which is the order you push the dots in: R for Red, G for Green, B for Blue, C for Cyan (light blue), M for Magenta(purple), and Y for Yellow. You will hear the package being delivered once you do this.

@me 2: To use the bat click on the icon (of the bat) at the top of the gaming window to select it, then click on the barcode produced by the lamp, as far as I can tell this is the only place you can use it and it disappears afterward.

Yo Deimos! Thnx for all the help, man! Hey, dude, did you find the game a bit depressing? So, supposedly, the guy’s whole world was his imagination? The entire thing about the barcodes and being observed and doing nothing and no way out and weirdness was just his mental instability? Oh, I think now I know what those pills were really supposed to do…..

Maybe the ‘Bars’ are the bars at the end, in one end of his cell. This whole thing is probably just a metaphor for being trapped in one’s own mid, hence, the insanity, there, at the end, or just an episode of dementia in a single individual’s mind. Or an episode of dementia in a individuals’ mind.
