    Yes and no. This is true for any Management and not only for hotels. If you have been involved with the business from bottom up and have worked for a progressive employer who has rotated your position and provided internal training supplemented by short external courses as part of Human Resources Development, a formal degree will not be necessary. If one already has a degree, he can start as a trainee and assume great responsibilities at a younger age than the internal promotee. Both have important roles to play.
