Stock up on healing potions and you will automatically use them when critically wounded.

Those with exclamation marks on them are boss monsters that you need to kill. Well, in this game, you need to kill the skeleton to complete your quick quest.

Make sure you are high level enough, have decent weapons and armor plus stocked up lots of healing potions before you decide to take on the skeleton.
