Pay as You Go mobile broadband getting popular
For the first time, it is said that the mobile broadband clients would like to sign up for the “Pay as You Go mobile broadband” package instead of the normal contracted based mobile broad band package. The leading broadband comparison site http://www.broadband-expert.co.uk/ has sales figure from last year’s October to prove this.

According to www.broadband-expert.co.uk,  more than half of the subscribers, which is about 53% of mobile broadband clients signed up for the Pay as You Go packages whereas only about 47% signed up for the normal contract based packages.

This trend is going to continue as believed by the commercial director of www.broadband-expert.co.uk – Rob Webber as he mentioned they saw the sales for Pay as You Go increasingly steadily since the year end of year 2008 as clients found out that they do not have to sign up for a long contract and instead pay for that they use.

It is expected by them that this trend will carry on even until Christmas since Pay as You Go mobile broadband and phones perform well generally compared against contract based mobile packages. Plus, the prepaid mobile broadband also makes a suitable gift for those who could not get them normally, for example kids under eighteen years old or elderly folks who are quite old already.

At T-mobile, a similar trend has been observed and as said by a spokesperson of T-mobile as they saw a stabilization of the contract based mobile broadband market because more and more clients prefer to sign up for prepaid mobile broadband due to more flexibility. For the last three months, about 20% of the market belongs to prepaid mobile broadband sales and it has been increasing at 10% per month.

Based on findings by www.broadband-expert.co.uk it appears that pay as you go mobile broadband deals will become more and more popular. Also, in September 2009, it is reported that 63% of mobile broadband sales belonged to prepaid packages, according to findings from market research company GfK Retail & Technology.
