Overview
Been playing flash powered games off flash games websites and would like to download the .swf flash game into your hard drive, so you can play them off-line? Find out how to download flash games from flash games sites in this little tutorial.

You need a Download Manager
Anything that allows you to insert a url and start downloading. Deimos uses Free Download Manager. Pick something that you are comfy and familiar with.

How to download flash games from Newgrounds
Visit this link to access “The Last Stand” page:
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/375622

Step 1 – View Page Source

For Newgrounds, the location of the .swf file can be found by viewing the source of that page, so let’s view the page source to get the direct url of the .swf file.

Step Two – Ctrl+F – Search for the .swf file

Press Ctrl-F (if using Firefox) and type in .swf into the Search box to find the line where the exact location of the .swf file is. Not that hard to find it, right?

Step Three – Copy the url of the .swf file’s location

Highlight the url of the .swf file’s location, press Ctrl-C or right click and select Copy.

Step Four – Add download to download manager

Finally, use a download manager to download the .swf file.

Disclaimer Notice
This method only works if the site did not mask the location of the .swf file, like Newgrounds. If the location of the .swf file cannot be found by viewing the Page Source, then the only method left is to dig through the cache and search for it.

What’s with the ladies on the post? lol

Anyways, I usually just check my temporary internet files on the swf files (either they are games or not)
Some Flash developers (like me), usually put a code to check, if the swf file is not being played/loaded on my domain name, prevent it to be loaded (copy protection)

I think there is a function in WordPress 2.5 that can help us embed flash objects. 💡
Let me check it out and then I will let you know. 🙂

Finding the swf in the source code can be a tedious task.
If you easily want to flash games from popular websites like
kongegate, newgrounds, miniclip, onemorelevet, addictinggames etc.
you either need some browser plug-ins or software to do this.

I recently started using http://www.flashgamedownloader.com which is very easy software to do just this. Also you can double click and play your games anytime you want. I hope you find it usefull..
