The introduction is rather long and kinda interactive which can be confused for the actual game play itself. The in game tutorial starts after the first battle ends.

Use WASD or arrow keys to move around to explore, pick up items and start combat!

Stick your weapon into them enough times and they will be down for good. You will also level up various combat related skills too.
