I started in Canada with a virus, the disease spread fast. Madagascar ended up closing it’s shipyard so I was about to end the game. Right before I exited, it said Madagascar became infected. Weird?

worked for me! the only change i made was i added rodents from the beginning to get madagascar to get infected eariler (rodents + shipyards are more likely to get infected) and once i got madagascar, i put airborne on to get the rest of the world. btw, i started in angentina

You’re right in only having tier 1 resistances to start with, but if you wait to see which states are infected and when one has a natural disaster increase transmission (eg. drought – insects) it will greatly increase your chance of infecting madagascar. the reasoning can be obvious when you get on early on and have a massive increase in infected in that state to begin with, but it’s obvious the games algorithm takes it into account straight away and awards madagascar as soon as a ship arrives there.
